Students & Families Invited to BGCS’ Webinar Exploring Environmental Careers

VISALIA, CA, October 5th, 2021 -- This Friday, October 8th, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sequoias (BGCS) will be hosting The Career Panel: Environmental Careers 101. This is BGCS’ second college & career preparation webinar event, only this time around the panel will focus on careers in the environmental field. This webinar will be held from 4:00PM–5:30PM via Zoom. It is free to attend and open to the public. Attendees should register for the event by visiting www.bgcsequoias.org/collegenight.
These college night-style webinars are meant to educate students on the requirements of college/higher education, familiarize them with different college & career paths, and remind them of the importance of putting effort into their schooling. This webinar is sponsored by Rincon Consultants, Inc. and has once again been organized by BGCS Area Director Cinthia Ibarra and Environmental Planner Victoria Chung.
During the webinar, audience members will hear from the following 5 experienced panelists who are all professionals in the environmental field: Alana Garza, Biologist; Victoria R. Chung, Environmental Planner; Jorge Mendieta, Environmental Scientist & Paleontologist; Vanessa Villanueva, Environmental Planner; and Lilly Rudolph, Senior Program Manager. Panelists will discuss their experiences with college pathways, career trajectories, internships, and career opportunities. Students of all ages are encouraged to join the webinar with their families and participate by asking questions.

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sequoias is focused on helping all young people, especially those who need us most, become responsible, caring and productive members of society. Boys & Girls Clubs were established in Tulare County in the 1990’s when Exeter and Visalia community leaders responded to the need for a positive place for local youth to spend free time after school. Today, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sequoias serves 1,000 kids per day at 15 Clubs throughout Tulare County.
